Sarkodie dominates Global iTunes Charts with ‘Highest’ Album

In less than 24 hours upon its release on Friday, September 8, Highest, the fifth studio album from Sarkodie, one of Africa’s biggest rappers, was dominating iTunes album charts globally, with groundbreaking chart positions across iTunes charts in America, United Kingdom, Germany, Canada and Switzerland among others.

Upon release, the Highest album shot to the top of the iTunes album charts in Ghana, and landed the #2 spot on the iTunes album charts in Nigeria. The album also reached the top 20 on the iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap album charts in both the UK and US, landing at #13 and #7 respectively. In other parts of the world, the album gained massive strides as well, reaching the top 30 on the iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap album charts in Canada and Switzerland.

Packed with 15 brand new songs, 3 interludes and a bonus track, Sarkodie’s Highest album had already been setting the pace even before its release, with a landmark UK press tour and support from the biggest global tastemakers including Noisey, BBC 1Xtra, MTV, Hunger Magazine, Capital Xtra, and Radar Radio, to mention a few.

NORTHERN MUSIC AWARDS 2017 LAUNCHED IN TAMALE


The much anticipated music festival for the of Northern Region is all set to blow the minds of music lovers. The award scheme has proved to be one of the most reliable award schemes in the country and can compete with the likes of the Vodafone Ghana Music Award (VGMA).

The Northern Music Award has succeeded in organising two successful events and launched the third edition of the music festival on July 22, 2017 at the Radarch Lodge and Conference Center in Tamale.

Speaking to the press, the Public Relationship Officer (PRO) of Northern Vision Events (NVE) Mr. Mohammed Hafiz also known in showbiz as Geeface expressed his optimism for a much better event this year and called on every industry player to contribute in making it a success.

The event organisers also assured the general public and artistes of being neutral in executing their mandate and dismissed any possibility of manipulating votes to favour any candidate. Mr. Mohammed Hafiz Geeface encouraged every artiste to pick a form and file for nomination since he believes it is an award scheme geared towards promoting Northern talents. He also added that “we need everybody to have confidence in us to deliver”.

The PRO of NVE further revealed that two more categories namely “High life song of the year” and “Best Music Promoter of the year” were added to this year’s categories to appreciate the good works music promoters are doing and to encourage the High life artistes to do more in their chosen genre.

The second edition of the Northern Music Awards saw the current VGMA new artiste of the year Fancy Gadam winning the Artiste of the year category in a “fiercely” contested category with the likes of the 69 Fans boss Maccasio, Dabba, Deensi and Ataaka.

In outlining the activities for the Northern Music Festival, Mr. Mohammed Hafiz Geeface explain to the media that the nominee jam will held at Kumbungu to appreciate their contributions in patronising shows being organised in their community, a situation he applauded.

Releasing of Voting Codes: 15th August, 2017

Voting begins: 15th August, 2017

Nominee Jams: 9th September, 2017

Awards Night: 16th September, 2017 at Radarch Lodge and Conference Center

Winners Party: 23rd September, 2017 at Oasis Restaurant in Gumani

Africa Youth and Talent Summit 2017 Report


On Thursday July 20th, 2017 the maiden edition of Africa Youth and Talent Summit (#AYTSummit2017) took place in GNAT Hall, 20km Adjacent Waec Hall, Tamale, Ghana. Participants from three countries (Ghana, Nigeria and Togo) between 20 and 35 years of age took part in the summit.


Prince Siita Sofo, CEO NTV Ghana, Mohammed Mustapha, Personal Development Coach and Mr. Awin Peter Co-founder, Cowtribe opened the summit. The Facilitators sessions/workshops includes, Personal Development, Career Development, Africa Youths and Agricuture.


In addition, a panel discussion of each session with youth representatives in the various industries was quite interactive giving participants the opportunity to speak directly to keynote speakers in the Q&A session.


The Africa Youth and Talent Summit attracted representatives from Youth-friendly organizations, teachers, politicians, policy makers, the general public and media. Overall an approximately 500 people attended some section of AYTS.

Furthermore, the summit also entertaining as performing music artiste T-Banks from Nigeria trilled the audience as well as spoken word artist Pobee from Ghana and Sanni from Togo trilled the audience.


In the end, the participants of the Africa Youth and Talent Summit proposed to hold regular Youth Training to be led by the Youth Ambassador, Mohammed Yakubu and to promote developmental platforms for youth and talent development
